Tax Return Preparation Services:
We began providing tax return preparation services in the spring of 2012. Although Kermit has not officially prepared tax returns for years, he has worked providing background services for tax return preparation and has kept informed on tax changes throughout the years. During the summer and fall of 2012 Kermit studied in preparation for setting for the IRS examination to become an RTRP – Registered Tax Return Preparer. He ultimately sat for the exam on December 28, 2012, passing the exam and receiving his official designation as an RTRP. When the RTRP registration was challenged in early 2013 and ultimately “suspended”, Kermit determined to pursue the Enrolled Agent (EA) status with the IRS. The studying began in May, 2014 and by November 4, 2014, three required tests had been passed and by the end of December, 2014. the official letter from the IRS was in hand, indicating that Kermit was approved to present himself to the public as an EA. This brings with it additional responsibility, challenges and opportunities. But it will also provide Kermit the opportunity to serve existing and new clients in a way that had not been possible prior to becoming an EA. The tax return preparation business volume increased significantly during the spring of 2013 and spring of 2014, and we look forward to building that part of our business in the coming years.
Accounting Services:
We provide a full range of accounting services, customized to each client’s specific needs. Many of our clients use our services to compile financial information from sources including check registers, check stubs, downloading from financial institution websites, check images online or included with hard copy of bank statements, or even from the most basic source, copies of invoices with check numbers noted on the invoice.
We are extremely flexible in the range of services we provide, increasing or decreasing the amount of services provided as the individual client’s needs may change or dictate. It is important for us and for the client that the financial data recorded mimick as closely as possible the detailed transactions that actually occur in the course of conducting business. We have found that detail versus summary transactions minimize issues when government tax audits become a reality.
Payroll Services:
We provide a full level of payroll services, issuing paychecks as frequent or as infrequent as the employer wishes, keeping the employer informed of cash requirements to cover all payroll, including taxes withheld, employer taxes and any fees charged for processing payroll. Payroll tax payments are made on behalf of the employer according to the frequency required by government, including federal, state and local levels of government. Quarterly and annual tax filings are generated, including issuing of W-2s. Notices to state of new hires and record-keeping requirements for the employer, such as I-9’s are monitored. Employers are also advised of posters that are required to be posted on the employer’s premises.
Computer Services:
We frequently use remote access software to work with clients who choose to do some of their own accounting work but occasionally need supervision or review of their work. GoToMyPc and LogMeIn software have proven to be significant time savers. A large part of our clients are owner-operators, and their time is very valuable, as they are directly involved in the production phases of their businesses. With the use of one of these remote access services, it keeps our clients at their places of business but allows personal involvement in the review process. It also provides opportunity for us to occasionally resolve computer issues for our clients, minimizing down time for them.
